Our Crate (Mar20/08)

Dear Prayer Partner,

Praise the Lord.  Our crate was cleared and came in duty free.

It took two trips to customs because they wanted a letter.  When we arrived there was a European man in the office who totally lost patience and began shouting loudly at the workers.  I thank that helped us following him with a smiling face.  Anyway we had to take an official from customs and quarantine to the house and inspect the contents as we opened it.  We had all our receipts and were quite prepared to pay duty, but they examined everything and asked questions, but they were satisfied it was all personal effects or for use in our church's ministry.

It was 2 p.m. when we took our letter to the customs.  The wonderful man there walked the letter through the boss and within 15 min. our documents were stamped and we were on our way to the ports clearance dept.  It took me about 5 min to find a truck to deliver the goods.  At 3:00 as it begin to rain we had loaded the crate unto the truck heading home.  Praise the Lord that our road was recently repaired, making this trip possible.  By 4 p.m. we had totally unloaded the crate, through a light rain, and the inspection was complete and then I delivered the officers back to their office.  I feel this was facilitated in record time, thanks to your prayers.

Next day, Nancy baked three chocolate cakes as a little Thank you and we delivered them, one each to custom officer who cleared our documents (in record time) and the two officers who inspected our crate, and assisted in the unloading (which is not a part of their job description).  The quarantine officer has not been attending church, at least regularly, anywhere and so he said he would join our Honiara Church on Easter Sunday.  Pray for him, that he will find a dynamic relationship with the savior.

Your partner in His Ministry,

George Miller
